France Losing Online Casinos Strength
November 11th, 2011
Even though many online casino goers might think that in this day and age the European community is probably light years ahead of Americans regarding regulations in their online gambling system, the truth of the matter is that things are not looking good there either. However, with that being said, there are still many governmental organizations and advocates that are not giving up in their fight. Online gaming, including playing free slots or free video poker games, is one of the favorite pastimes for many in France and setbacks in the legalization of these online games are not making these folks happy.
The latest event to take place in the European nation is in regards to the French regulatory body that has revoked online gaming licenses of SAjOO for online casinos and online sportsbooks in the country. This online casino operator is part of the Amaury Group and has recently merged with bwin France. The merger occurred between two giant gaming groups in hopes of finding the best possible solution for profits in the extremely severe regulatory and fiscal regime under current French gambling laws.
The incredibly challenging French regulatory and financial situation also caused another important online gambling company to request the revocation of their ARJEL license. This online gaming site is now in a hibernation mode since May 2011. This site has stated in recent gambling news that they do not find it possible to develop their business and compete within the current stringent fiscal situation of the French market and during the last year they have failed to produce the expected results. Even so, the fight continues as many gambling operators and software companies still think that the French market is good for online gambling licenses in the country and many are still able to operate online poker sites in France as well as online casino and online sports betting sites.
